The Club’s Annual 10 Hour Race - Saturday 7th July 2012

OLYMPIC COUNTRIES

It’s just three weeks to go to the 10 Hour Race; the largest and most popular annual sailing and social event in the Frensham calendar.
The theme this year is 'Olympic Countries' and each entry to the race will be representing one of the countries at the Olympics, and we expect the boat and its crew to be suitably dressed! There will be a draw one week before the event to decide which country your team will allocated.
The Race will start at 9am and finish at 7pm. There will be team changes every 50 minutes.

There will also be the usual wide range of 'on-shore' attractions – good food and real ale, plus live entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day and a Meat Feast – with Vegetarian Options - will be served from around 7.15pm with prize-giving scheduled for 8.15pm.

The 10 Hour Race is about having fun and traditionally a team consists of a range of sailing abilities. Most teams have at least 3 crews: one of good ability, one of moderate ability and one relatively inexperienced. Your Class Captain will help you make up a team or allocate you to a team if you wish.

Each year, the Club uses the event to raise money for a good cause. This year, the appeal is in aid of The Abbey School in Farnham – a special school for 11-16 year olds with learning difficulties and communication disorders - so we need your help to raise lots of money.

Sponsorship forms will be available for download soon, see “News & Events” on the website. Please fill in the form for Race Entry, Food Tickets and Sponsorship as soon as possible.

Further forms will be available in the club foyer OR you can make a donation to 'Frensham Pond Sailing Club', marked “The Abbey School”. Monies raised, sponsorship forms and donations can be handed in at the club kitchen, or to any General Committee member.

So put the date in your diary, encourage your family, friends & colleagues to support you and book your tickets now.

Cheques, with entry forms, should be made payable to 'Frensham Pond Sailing Club' and either sent to Julian Davies, Club Manager, at Frensham Pond Sailing Club, Pond Lane, Churt, Farnham, Surrey, GU10 2QA or handed to Julian in the office.

Swinging 60’s 10 Hour Race - Saturday 13th July 2012

It’s just one month to go to the 10 Hour Race; the largest and most popular annual sailing and social event in the Frensham calendar.

The theme this year is the 1960’s and we expect the boat and its crew to be suitably dressed!  And there will be a fantastic prize of one year’s free berthing for the person who is the most imaginatively dressed in 60’s attire.

The Race will start at 9am and finish at 7pm.  There will be team changes every 50 minutes.

There will also be the usual wide range of 'on-shore' attractions – good food and real ale, plus live entertainment from local musician Henry Tresize.

Drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day and a curry – with vegetarian option - will be served from around 7.00pm with prize-giving scheduled for 8.00pm.

Friday Evening Sailing

Hi All

Friday 1st June 2012 marks the start of Friday evening leisure sailing.

But its not just about sailing; every Friday throughout the summer the Club will be open from 6:30pm to welcome all members whether your interest is in sailing or in meeting other members.

For those balmier evenings why not bring your family to the club and use the Club’s barbecue. Just bring along food, plates and cutlery and enjoy the lovely lake and surroundings.

There’s no need to worry if you don't have a boat as you can now hire our Club boats: Optimists, Toppers, Cadets and Laser Bahia's . Dinghy instructors will be on-hand to provide tuition and help if needed. This is a great opportunity to extend the skills you gained on an RYA Dinghy course.

And to ensure your safety there will also be a powerboat on the water.

If you would like to hire a boat then please email me for a booking.

Kind regards
