RYA Adult Sailing Scheme Courses for ages 16+

Course times:

Midweek courses: 0900 – 1630.

Saturday Courses: 0900 – 1300.

On the first morning of a course registration will start at 08:45.

  • No previous sailing experience necessary. Age 16 and over.

    This is a course for complete beginners to introduce you to sailing. An instructor will teach you in a double handed boat.

  • Students must have completed an RYA Level 1 course before taking a Level 2 course.

    If it is a long time since doing your Level 1, you should consider repeating a Level 1 course.

    Age 16 and over.

    This course builds on the Level 1 course. An instructor will teach you in a double handed boat. After attaining Level 2 you will be able to sail unsupervised in light winds.

  • No previous sailing experience necessary. The course is designed specifically for teenagers who are of age 16 to 19 inclusive.

    This is a course for complete beginners and uses single handed dinghies. After attaining Level 2 you will be able to sail unsupervised in light winds.

  • No previous sailing experience necessary. Age 16 and over.

    This is a course for complete beginners and an instructor will teach you in a double handed boat. After attaining Level 2 you will be able to sail unsupervised in light winds.

  • Students must have attained RYA Level 2 or have equivalent experience (as judged by a Senior Instructor). Age 16 and over.

    This course bridges the gap between the completion of Level 2 and moving on to more advanced skills, including an introduction to racing, allowing you to increase your confidence and improve your techniques.

16+ & Adult Courses

All Adult courses are taught to the RYA National Dinghy Sailing Scheme that caters for those who are of age 16 and over.

At Frensham we offer 3 Levels with Levels 1 & 2 for complete beginners, and Level 3 for those who have the basic skills and wish to develop these further while also gaining an introduction to racing. After attaining Level 2 you will be able to sail unsupervised in light winds.  Level 2 or equivalent experience (as judged by a Senior Instructor) should be considered as the entry criteria for the Level 3 course.
